It's become a summer tradition of sorts to have several families get together to sell their crap in someone's garage! No one really likes to put all the work into a garage sale, but doing it with friends is a lot more fun. Jon & Siri started it a couple of years ago and did it at their place and this year we said we would host. Look at all that great crap!!
And. Yet. More. Crap.

Michael, of course, was the money guy. He had an intricate system (including a spreadsheet), which few could master. Good thing he took very few potty breaks.

Jon brought his grill over and we grilled hot dogs and had a picnic lunch.
It was a bit tricky to keep Miriam entertained. She was in her stroller for awhile and then took a long nap. After lunch she played in this laundry basket full of $.25 toys!

Overall, it was really fun! But, I gotta say, I wish we would have had more traffic coming through. We had a pretty specific sale - lots of baby clothes & other items for families. So, if people weren't looking for that they left pretty quickly. Michael and I made the most money because we sold some bigger ticket items. It was worth it though because the kids had fun playing, the adults had fun talking (and drinking good Panera coffee that Phil brought!) and it was a very pleasant morning as far as the weather. In the end, we had such a good time that some of us are going to meet again next Friday to sell the crap we didn't sell on Saturday - at Jon & Siri's. Wish us luck! :)

Your friends have a daughter named Elin? (A certain 6 year old around here would be thrilled as it's not a name you run into much ... except a few months ago on the cover of PEOPLE magazine at the check out of every Target causing my Elin to ask, mom, why is my name on that?) Um...
I find it always favorable when people have intricate systems of doing things that few can master ... that they are the only ones who need to master it. Way to go Michael -- hope you raked in the cash on your crap!

How fun for all the kids to play together. It's wonderful that Eleanor and Miriam have so many friends. :)
Good luck with the rest of the stuff. Having a bunch of friends do it together is such a great idea... if I ever decide to do a sale again, that'd be the way to go.
Courtney - yes, I thought of your Elin when I did the post. They pronounce her name as Ellen - not like your Elin. Tough to explain the whole Tiger thing I suppose! Yikes!
Dude, why didn't anyone want to buy our crap?? We have the coolest crap in town :-) Hope the 2nd try is better for all of us! (It was an incredibly fun day, though, was it not?)
It really shows off the usefulness of the fence! The kids were able to play, and the mothers ( and perhaps the dads?) were able to relax and not have to worry about a mad dash to intercept a "runner". Bahnka
