On Saturday we did some Christmas activities as a family and also met up with our friends, Jon & Siri and their kids. Our first stop was the local Mormon church that had a community event where you could view over 200 nativity scenes, along with a live nativity scene at the front door. Eleanor wasn't quite sure what to make of the real people dressed up!
Jon's Honors Choirs Choral sang a short program at the event. Here are Lucy (almost 2 years), Theodore (just turned 4) and Eleanor.
Here are our Roosevelts standing in front of one of the many nativity sets on display. They also had refreshments - a piece of chocolate cake!
We then headed downtown to see if we could meet up with Santa. Here is Santa's workshop where, as it turned out, housed Mrs. Claus. The real Santa was inside the mall and there was a huge line. The kids didn't care. Mrs. Claus (who was extremely old!) was just fine for them.

The best part about seeing Mrs. Claus? The cookie & candy cane!! Candy canes have quickly become her favorite candy (don't tell the dentist in our family!). :)
We then all went out for pizza. What a fun family afternoon! Thanks Jon & Siri!

Wonderful to see the joy of Christmas (in all its elements) through Eleanor's eyes. And what a great way to spend a Saturday!
Love all the Christmas activities for families - we had a similar Nativity event at our church - hundreds of creche scenes, some so stunningly beautiful and moving.
And then there are trips to Santa and such ... we do it all too, such joy in little eyes!
